The Indiana Pacers will plan to keep Myles Turner after in-season trade discussions, per a report. Turner’s name has long come up in the NBA rumor mill. The center, though, remains a Pacer and is expected to do so moving forward.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Pacers hope to keep Myles Turner in their long-term plans.
“Sources say that the Pacers do hope to keep Turner long-term after they previously weighed Turner-centric trades going back to last summer.”
Many of the rumors circling around Myles Turner trades were built on the basis that Turner and Sabonis were an incongruent fit. With Sabonis gone, the Pacers have changed their tune on Turner.

Myles Turner is one of the NBA’s best shot blockers and is among the league leaders each season. Turner is also capable of spreading the floor on offense, as he is a career 35% three-point shooter. Indiana clearly sees a fit with their recent acquisition of Tyrese Haliburton, who is expected to be a key part of the team’s long-term plans.
Turner has one season left on his contract. The center will make $17.5 million for the 2022-23 season. Beyond that, Turner will be an unrestricted free agent. If the Pacers hope to keep Turner long-term, they will need to either extend or re-sign the big once his contract expires.
