Portland Trail Blazers Receive: F/C Anthony Davis
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G Damian Lillard
Sometimes, when what you’re doing isn’t working, trying something different is the optimal move by virtue of the fact that it’s something different.
The Blazers swap an aging superstar for a younger, injury-prone one here. If you started following the NBA last year, you wouldn’t know that Anthony Davis ever fit that descriptor. He did. It wasn’t long ago that Davis was widely regarded as one of the best big men in the NBA.
At 29, there’s reason to hope he’ll return to that level of play. If he does, the Blazers may win this trade. If he doesn’t, they can reevaluate their position when his contract expires in two seasons.
As for the Los Angeles Lakers, they’re hoping that Dame makes for the best Robin that James has had as their Batman. They’re still left in a tight spot with Russell Westbrook, who we’re quite sure won’t be suiting up alongside Damian Lillard. They’ll hope to move him elsewhere, and will consider buying him out if they can’t.
