This is a tough one to peg in terms of filling out the roster. Some players have good track records of remaining healthy, but for the most part, predicting injuries is not possible. Analytic departments can make educated guesses on thresholds that players shouldn’t cross to avoid injuries, but it remains an inexact science.
Injuries derailed the Los Angeles Lakers this season. While there isn’t much they can do to avoid injuries, one way to lessen the blow is with improved depth. The front office needs to add players that are more capable of handling bigger roles should injuries occur once again.
LeBron James missed the most games in a single season of his career and Anthony Davis missed half of the regular season for the second consecutive season. Replacing players of that caliber is virtually impossible, but improved depth would certainly help.
Last season, the Lakers were among the oldest teams ever put together. This offseason, they should look to bring in some younger players with a little more upside. They did that with Malik Monk and it was a smashing success.

Monk may now have priced himself out of Los Angeles, but those are the kind of players the team needs to target. The Lakers don’t have much spending power but could sell some players on having big roles in their rotation which will improve their stock.
