James Wiseman
Narrowing this down to one of Golden State’s young players proved a difficult task. Jonathan Kuminga felt a touch ambitious. He has superstar potential, and the Warriors may seek a higher-tier offensive player in exchange for the rookie.
Meanwhile, Moses Moody should be a quality player in this league, but he doesn’t feel like fair compensation for Rudy Gobert.
James Wiseman seemed to split the difference. Admittedly, questions about his future abound. The former second overall pick struggled in his rookie season and wasn’t even able to suit up in 2021-22. It’s hard to project his future in the NBA at this point.
If the Utah Jazz are in a position where they’re rebuilding, that shouldn’t cause them to hesitate. Wiseman still has potential as a rim-protecting big who provides a little floor spacing on offense. Players who provide both those skills are so rare that we call them “unicorns”.

A straight Gobert-for-Wiseman swap doesn’t work on the books. In all likelihood, the Warriors would have to include Andrew Wiggins to make a deal work financially.
That’s no small thing: Wiggins was just named to his first All-Star team, as a starter no less. Still, the opportunity to add Gobert to an already elite defense may be impossible to pass on.
If the Utah Jazz become a rebuilding team, James Wiseman may be too.
