Joel Embiid’s Dominance Continues
Joel Embiid has had an otherworldly MVP-caliber season.
The center became the first of his position to lead the NBA in scoring since Shaquille O’Neal, dropping 30.6 points per game.
Embiid’s season also was the highest-scoring ever for a player who played less than 34 minutes per game. In fact, you’ll find each of Embiid’s last three seasons among the top ten in PPG for a player playing under that minute’s threshold.
Whatever should happen to Philly this postseason – Embiid will be dominant regardless. The center is all but unguardable, especially when Toronto’s biggest player is 45 pounds lighter than the mammoth big.

Toronto will look to double, triple, even quadruple-team Joel Embiid as they did in their last match-up at the end of March.
Embiid managed 30 points and 10 rebounds in that match-up, but had five turnovers. With room to improve, look for Embiid to make an effort to use his passing vision against a Toronto defense that will be constantly collapsing around him.

Embiid’s scoring and rebounding are givens at this point – he’s too unstoppable to keep away from the rim without instead sending him to the free-throw line. It will be Embiid’s passing that is a key to his success against Toronto, and he’ll have no problem continuing his MVP-level play in round one.
