3. New York Knicks
This offseason is a big one for the New York Knicks. They played well above expectations during the 2020-21 season, which accelerated their timeline. It led to some moves in free agency in 2021 that proved to be unfruitful.
Now, the front office has to recalibrate and get things back on track. RJ Barrett is extension eligible, which will be another thing to keep an eye on. Mitchell Robinson is also a free agent, so the Knicks do have some decisions to make. Arguably the biggest is what to do with Julius Randle.
Randle was excellent during the 2020-21 campaign but came crashing back down to Earth this season. His demeanor was not always positive on the court, drawing the ire of the fans. It led to an ugly back and forth as Randle seemed disconnected at times from the team.
At this point, it seems like a change of scenery may be best for both sides. New York can hand the team over to Barrett and lean into developing their young guys. Obi Toppin would be a huge benefactor of a Randle trade, as he was excellent down the stretch with Randle sidelined.

Immanuel Quickley also played very well, giving the Knicks an intriguing young core to build upon. Cam Reddish, Quentin Grimes, Jericho Sims, and Deuce McBride would also fall into that category with Barrett and Robinson.
