New York Knicks

The final blunder of the Phil Jackson era in New York was selecting Frank Ntilikina with the eighth pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Who went 13th that year? Donovan Mitchell.

This is one that New York Knicks fans have not been able to get over in five years, and rightfully so. It can all be cured if the front office pulls off a trade for Mitchell in the offseason.

There are two returns the Jazz could be looking for. The first one is that of Memphis, full of draft picks and role players. The other is something the Knicks could offer, which is a big name. At this point, all players should be available, other than RJ Barrett. Yes, this includes Julius Randle.

This was not the season the New York Knicks were expecting after being the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. The decline of Randle is a big reason why they did not qualify for the postseason. On and off the court, acts of frustration might be driving Randle out of town despite signing a four-year contract last year.

If Mitchell is part of the return, this deal is a no-brainer for the New York Knicks. This would create a backcourt of Mitchell and Barrett. New York will finally have that elite point guard that has eluded them for years and years.
