LA Clippers guard Norman Powell is returning to their lineup for their matchup against the Phoenix Suns in part of the Wednesday NBA slate. There was prior reporting about his status progressing toward a potential return to the lineup, and he will indeed make that jump to play.
The Clippers acquired Norman Powell along with Robert Covington in a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers announced on Feb. 4.
LA sent Eric Bledsoe, Justise Winslow, and Keon Johnson, exchanging them for two players who could be important playoff pieces. Before suffering a broken foot, Powell only played three games for the Clippers.
Powell provided a scoring punch for the Clippers, scoring 28, 16, and 19 points in his games with the team. Before the trade, Powell was playing great basketball, averaging near his career-high with 18.8 points per game.

The Powell news comes when the Clippers are already enjoying the recent return of Paul George. George had been out since December with an elbow injury but returned last Tuesday to lead the Clippers to a comeback win over the Utah Jazz.
The Clippers currently sit in 8th place in the Western Conference but could be a much better team than their record indicates. With Powell and George returning, the team adds two versatile scorers who will be key parts of their playoff rotation.

Also of note, Clippers star Kawhi Leonard was recently spotted at one of the team’s practices. Leonard, who has missed the entire season thus far, would shake up the NBA playoffs, should he return alongside Powell and George.
For now, the LA Clippers should feel better about their postseason chances with both Paul George and Norman Powell in the lineup. With a matchup against the Western Conference-leading Suns lined up for his return, Powell will be tested right away.
