Since winning the NBA Finals in the bubble, it has been a rough stretch for the Los Angeles Lakers. Following their recent loss to the Phoenix Suns, LeBron James and company were mathematically eliminated from reaching the postseason.
While they entered the year as title favorites, things did not playout for the Lakers as they may have hoped. Questionable decisions regarding their roster and injuries were two major catalysts in their downfall this season.
Given how bleak things look for the Lakers currently, one analyst suggested a major change. During an episode of FS1’s ‘First Things First,’ Kevin Wildes said he feels LeBron James should try to work his way to the LA Clippers.
“I think LeBron should initiate, or at least start considering, a trade to the Clippers for either Paul George or Kawhi.”
While the Lakers have an array of issues, LeBron is not one of them. At age 37, he proved he can still compete at a high level. Currently second in the league in points per game, LeBron has a chance to bring home his first scoring title since the 2007-08 season.

A deal of this sort seems highly unlikely but makes sense from LeBron’s perspective. The LA Clippers have a deep roster filled with talent, and LeBron could reunite with his former coach Tyronn Lue. In terms of competing for a title, the Clippers are in a much better position than the Lakers.
Getting the Los Angeles Lakers into a position to contend will be an uphill battle for Rob Pelinka and the rest of the front office. No team is going to willingly take on Russell Westbrook and his massive contract. Not to mention, the team has limited draft capital and young assets to move.
