Does this trade make sense for the Los Angeles Lakers?
It does not matter if the Los Angeles Lakers are trading Russell Westbrook for a 2030 second-round pick and a balloon at this point.
Los Angeles and GM Rob Pelinka must move on from Westbrook in the offseason and any deal in which they can cut his $47 million salary is a major win for this franchise.
This is absolutely no disrespect to Russell Westbrook and his skills as a basketball player, but he does not fit in with the Lakers whatsoever, which is why they need to just settle with moving him for anything they can get at this point.
Derrick Rose, while he is an aging veteran with injury concerns, is a much better fit skill-wise than Russell Westbrook in Los Angeles and both Evan Fournier and Alec Burks give Los Angeles the shooting depth they need in their second-unit.
