Does this trade make sense for the Brooklyn Nets?

We have yet to see Ben Simmons play with the Brooklyn Nets, so it is hard to determine whether or not they should look to trade him.

In terms of Simmons’ mental state and all the problems he has had through the years, maybe trading him without even seeing him on the floor is a good move for the Nets.

The best part about this trade too is the fact that the Nets would be addressing two key needs of their franchise – shooting and play from the frontcourt.

Christian Wood can be the anchor for the Nets underneath in the paint and since he is entering the final year of his contract in the offseason, Brooklyn would not have to worry about being tied down to him long-term.

As for Eric Gordon, he technically would only have one more year left on his deal as well since the veteran can be waived with no penalty following the 2022-23 season due to his contract being non-guaranteed.

The Nets would be adding even more depth, still have a championship contending team and create enough cap space following next season to pursue another max contract player in the 2023 offseason, which is why this trade actually looks good for Brooklyn.
