Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G Markelle Fultz, G Terrence Ross, F Jonathan Isaac
Orlando Magic Receive: G Russell Westbrook, 2026 First-Round Pick, 2028 First-Round Pick
The Los Angeles Lakers will do whatever they can this offseason to shake up the roster. It will take a lot to get back to the level of contending, but moving on from Russell Westbrook is the first step in achieving that.
In this scenario, the Orlando Magic emerges as a team willing to take on Westbrook. There were some discussions held with the Houston Rockets about taking on Westbrook, but the Lakers were unwilling to meet the asking price for compensation.
This offseason, with some more picks made available to them, the Lakers may change their mind. In this deal, they pony up two future first-round picks. Part of that is to compensate them for taking on Westbrook but to also compensate Orlando for the players they are parting ways with.
Markelle Fultz could be the odd man out after Orlando spent first-round picks in Cole Anthony and Jalen Suggs in consecutive seasons. Terrence Ross is someone the Lakers have tried to trade for in the past and finally land their man.
