Lonnie Walker IV – San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs are rebuilding and the future does seem bright for them with the emergence of first-time All-Star Dejounte Murray, Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell and other young pieces on this roster.
One of these young pieces in Lonnie Walker IV is going to be a restricted free agent in the offseason and while his long-term status in San Antonio was questioned at the beginning of the year, Walker’s play as of late has seemed to prove that he is an important piece to the puzzle for the Spurs.
On the year, Lonnie Walker is averaging 12.1 points (career-high), 2.2 assists (career-high) and is shooting 40.6% from the floor. He has struggled from beyond-the-arc this season, but Walker is starting to prove that he can be a real factor scoring the ball for this franchise.
Since the All-Star break, Lonnie Walker has averaged 18.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and has shot 46.1% from the floor and 38.9% from three-point range.

Dejounte Murray leads the Spurs’ offense, but coming off-the-bench, Walker has proven to be a “sixth-man-like” talent for this team.
Being just 23-years-old and being an athletic scorer with the ball in his hands, it is hard to imagine the Spurs will let Lonnie Walker IV walk in free agency, especially given his recent performances down the stretch-run of the season.
The Spurs may have competition in terms of re-signing Walker, but he is a restricted free agent and San Antonio will have a very good chance at bringing him back long-term.
