Brooklyn Nets
Entering the year, the Brooklyn Nets were the title favorites in the Eastern Conference and they were picked by many to win their first NBA title in franchise history.
With Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden together and healthy, the Nets looked like they had the best shot to run the table in the league this season.
Well, things have not gone according to plan for the Brooklyn Nets, as Kyrie Irving has only played in 18 games this season due to his vaccination status, Kevin Durant has only played in 41 games due to injuries and James Harden is now a member of the Philadelphia 76ers after a blockbuster trade deadline deal involving the former league-MVP.
So much turnover has happened within this Brooklyn Nets’ organization this season, making many believe that they do not have the mental capacity to win a title anymore. However, Durant looks like one of the best scorers in the league again since returning from his knee injury, Irving looks refreshed and the Nets’ secondary talents in Seth Curry, Andre Drummond, Bruce Brown, Patty Mills and James Johnson are starting to step up when it matters most.

Brooklyn has won three straight games now and are currently just 3.5 games back from the Cavaliers for the 6-seed in the Eastern Conference.
Whether they end up in the play-in tournament or not, the Brooklyn Nets are a team that nobody wants to play simply because there is no way to stop or guard both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving on the floor together.
On any given night, either All-Star is capable of going for 50-plus points and we have seen that this season, as Irving recently scored 50 points against the Hornets on March 8 and Kevin Durant scored 53 against the Knicks on March 13!

With Ben Simmons likely to make his team-debut within the next week or so as well, the Nets have three All-Stars that are wanting to prove all of their doubters around the league wrong.
The last thing any team in this league wants to run into is Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving both playing with a chip on their shoulders, which is why the Brooklyn Nets still have a chance to contend for and possibly win a title this season, even though no team seeded lower than sixth has ever won a title.
