The Los Angeles Lakers have experienced a lot of disappointment throughout the 2021-22 NBA season. Among the causes has been the consistent lack of availability of Anthony Davis due to injury.
The regular season is rapidly winding down and Davis still has not yet returned to the lineup. Does he think there’s still a chance of him playing again this season? He claims he’s “very optimistic” of that occurring, but is “not 100% sure” it will happen.
“I’m very optimistic about it,” Anthony said. “I’m trying to get back on the court as soon as possible. As far as a number or something, I would love to say 100 but with only a certain amount of games yet, not 100% sure.”

There was fear from Davis that he could have broken his ankle when the injury first happened. He heard “crunching” and the reaction from the opposing team’s nearby players made him think it was serious.
“When it first happened, I heard the crunching, like everything in my foot,” Davis said. “And the first thing I heard, when I looked up and I just saw either Royce O’Neale or Donovan Mitchell turn around (and say), like, ‘Oh s—.’ And when I looked down, and I couldn’t move my foot, my first thought was, ‘Please let it not be broken.'”
As any player would be, Davis is disappointed in how he’s had to be sidelined as of late given he had just returned recently from being sidelined for a different injury. However, he is grateful that it wasn’t more severe.

“The first thing I thought was, ‘Not again,'” Davis said. “I just got off of (being sidelined) four-to-six (weeks). Now I got another four-to-six. So that’s where the anger came from. … It was a little bit of relief that it wasn’t as bad as it could have been, but more so anger of, ‘Here we go again.’
A potential Anthony Davis return is not going to be enough to turn things around for the Los Angeles Lakers. Still, it’s important to have games under his belt heading into the offseason.
