Brandon Ingram and the New Orleans Pelicans (27-38) were taken down by Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies (45-22) during the NBA Tuesday slate. The Grizz won with 132-111 being the final score.

The Pelicans still are without Zion Williamson, but recently, he did travel to New Orleans to continue his rehab efforts after positive recent scans of his foot.

The team has been playing well since the CJ McCollum trade given he has offered a needed scoring and playmaking punch to a previously underwhelming backcourt. New Orleans was coming off a heartbreaking overtime loss against the Denver Nuggets with Nikola Jokic taking over in MVP fashion.

It has been an impressive season for the Grizzlies with Ja Morant leading the charge. They bounced back from a letdown loss against the Houston Rockets in their previous game.

The Grizzlies hit the ground running in this game with 44 points and added another 68 to the board through the next three quarters. There was never any coming back for the Pelicans at that point.

It was an impressive game for many of the Grizzlies’ key players. Ja Morant led in scoring with 24 points but also chipped in eight boards and dimes apiece. He didn’t have to exert himself too much in this one as he finished with 27 minutes, but he still had a strong outing overall.

Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane each totaled 22 points, too, but neither of them spent close to their regular playing time on the floor in this one. In fact, no member of the Grizzlies even reached 30 minutes on the night.

CJ McCollum did his best to carry the Pelicans with 32 points and 11 assists. There was just not much that could be done beyond that given the circumstances of what he was playing with.

Against a team like the New Orleans Pelicans that are seeking to maximize their play-in positioning, the Memphis Grizzlies knew they needed to bring it.
