Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets (32-33) took on LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets (32-33) in part of the NBA Tuesday slate. It was the Kyrie Irving show in this one as he dropped 50 points in the 132-121 win.

While the Nets still remain optimistic about their title contention outlook for this season, the losses have been piling up, so getting a win here goes a long way. This one was among the games Kyrie Irving will be available to play in the lineup given the Nets were on the road.

Irving still has not received clarity regarding his status to play home games, so it’s especially important Brooklyn takes care of business when he is in the lineup.

There wasn’t much questioning the outcome of this game with Brooklyn putting up over 30 points in all four quarters. Irving had an incredible game by shooting 15-19 (78.9%) from the floor, 9-12 (75%) from deep, and 11-13 (84.6%) from the line to get to his 50 points.

Terry Rozier (30), Miles Bridges (30), and LaMelo Ball (24) each surpassed the 20-point threshold comfortably for the Hornets, but their defense just was nowhere effective enough to get a win. It was arguably the NBA game with the most electric highlights on the night.

The Charlotte Hornets were looking to hold onto the 8th spot in the Eastern Conference standings with the Nets having the same record entering this game but both teams swapped spots as a result of Brooklyn’s win.
