Tobias Harris Likely To Be Moved In Offseason
The Philadelphia 76ers made a lot of noise at the trade deadline this season when they traded Ben Simmons, Andre Drummond, Seth Curry, and two first-round picks to the Brooklyn Nets for James Harden and Paul Millsap.
Getting that second All-Star, championship-level talent in Harden was essential for them in a Simmons trade and so far, this pairing of Harden and Embiid looks like one of the best in the league.
Not to mention, Tyrese Maxey has really benefited from having James Harden in the backcourt beside him. In three games with Harden, the 76ers are 3-0, they have won all of their games by an average of 20.7 points and this trio of Joel Embiid, James Harden, and Tyrese Maxey is averaging 84.7 points per game together.
This new “Big 3” in the Eastern Conference has been eye-popping so far, but it has also been very telling about the future of Tobias Harris. Now a secondary thought offensively for the 76ers in recent games, Tobias Harris could very much be on the move in the offseason and the Sixers did in fact hold discussions with teams at the trade deadline this season about Harris trade availability.

Having two more years and $76.9 million left on his contract after this season, trading Tobias Harris could be tough for the 76ers to do given the fact that not many teams in the league could take back this kind of contract.
Russell Westbrook and John Wall are two players that come to mind as possible contracts that could align with that of Tobias Harris, but it is unlikely that the 76ers will be interested in either Westbrook or Wall in the offseason.
Moving Harris for some more secondary scorers and talents to put around Harden and Embiid seems like the avenue Daryl Morey and the 76ers’ front-office will explore, which is why the Atlanta Hawks could wind up being a prime destination for Tobias Harris.
Not only is John Collins a player the 76ers have shown a level of interest in, but Danilo Gallinari and Bogdan Bogdanovic are two veterans that could be on the move in the offseason from Atlanta.

Another team with ties to Tobias Harris right now is the Houston Rockets seeing as they have Eric Gordon, a former teammate of James Harden’s and a player Morey has strong ties to as well given his time as the Rockets’ general manager.
Assuming Tyrese Maxey can continue to be a high-level third option for the Philadelphia 76ers, this team will explore trade opportunities involving Tobias Harris to try and get out of his contract.
