Parting with Anthony Davis would be far from an ideal outcome for the Lakers. However, if the team aims to contend while they have LeBron James on the roster, getting bold with a move of this nature could be the best outlook for them to have the supporting cast pieces they need.
Davis’ rim protection is a key element to the Lakers’ defense when he’s healthy, but he was unable to stay available since the NBA Bubble. The regression in his jump shooting has been concerning as well.
Damian Lillard would present the Lakers with a dynamic shot creation threat to form a lethal two-man game with LeBron James as the clear-cut focus of the half-court offense.
