2. Takes Attention Off Joel Embiid

While the Philadelphia 76ers were rolling for the majority of the season before acquiring James Harden, things weren’t always easy. Joel Embiid was steamrolling opponents, but he was having to work for his production pretty hard.

Teams would throw everything at him including the kitchen sink. It was encouraging the production that Maxey and Tobias Harris were providing, but we have seen previously that in the halfcourt, the 76ers sometimes hit a ceiling.

Some of that can be attributed to the offensive flaws that Simmons had. Teams could leave him open with no repercussions because he wouldn’t shoot the ball. Maxey is a proven scorer at the point guard spot, but Doc Rivers can rest easy knowing he can roll the ball out there and Harden will create for himself and his teammates.

In the postseason the game slows down considerably. It was sometimes a challenge for the 76ers to score, but that will no longer be a problem. Embiid should find some more one-on-one situations as Harden garners a lot of attention from opponents as well.

That attention will open things up for Joel Embiid and his other teammates to take full advantage of and get to work scoring the ball.
