Eric Bledsoe – Top Landing Spot: Boston Celtics
The Portland Trail Blazers are Eric Bledsoe’s fourth team in the last three seasons, fifth if you count his short stint with the Memphis Grizzlies this past offseason, and the veteran just cannot seem to find a long-term home in this league.
Now 32-years-old, Eric Bledsoe has proven to still be an effective veteran and has some good moments with the Clippers this season before being on the move to the Trail Blazers at the trade deadline.
In 54 games this season, Bledsoe has averaged 9.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and has shot 42.1% from the floor, making him a key secondary talent for some playoff-contending teams around the league.
Since the trade deadline, Portland has posted a 3-1 record and entered the All-Star break on a four-game win streak. There is still an outside chance that the Blazers could make a run to the play-in tournament this season, which is one of the main reasons that they may look to keep Eric Bledsoe, especially after waiving Dennis Smith Jr.
LATEST NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Buyout Market Takes Hit With Schroder Staying With Rockets
Should they buy Bledsoe out of his contract, the Boston Celtics would be a perfect fit for him given that they have three open roster spots and desperately need to use one to add another experienced guard to their backcourt.
Derrick White brings a combo guard presence, but Marcus Smart is their only option at point guard right now and with the team not putting a lot of faith in Payton Pritchard heading towards the playoffs, Eric Bledsoe could hold a key two-way role with this team.
The Celtics have shown a level of interest in Eric Bledsoe in the past in regards to a possible trade, but they have never been willing to pay the price for him since Bledsoe has always had a high-paying contract.
LATEST NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Buyout Market Takes Hit With Schroder Staying With Rockets
If they were able to get him in the buyout market, he could prove to be their “sixth-man” on the roster on a minimum contract and then possibly become an option for them to re-sign in the offseason.
Boston is running out of time to find reliable options for their roster ahead of the playoffs, which is why Eric Bledsoe would be a perfect addition for them.
