Zach LaVine – Chicago Bulls
One very intriguing situation to keep an eye on this offseason is the pending free agency of Zach LaVine, as he is going to be an unrestricted free agent.
The Bulls have had a ton of success this season and are currently at the top of the Eastern Conference standings, leading many to believe that Zach LaVine will not be going anywhere, but he made his intentions on a new contract very clear over the All-Star break.
“Free agency is gonna be a big milestone for me,” LaVine told Yahoo Sports. It’s my first time going into it really being [an] unrestricted free agent. I dealt with it being restricted before so it’s a whole new experience.”
Zach LaVine also went on to state that he is not sure if a max contract is his “goal” in free agency, but that he made it clear that he should be getting what he deserves.

Chicago is going to be tight on cap space in the offseason, but it is extremely hard to imagine that they will not offer LaVine a contract worth upwards of $30 million per year if that is what he wants.
LaVine has been the focal point of the Chicago Bulls for years now and they have built a very successful and championship-contending team around him. The All-Star trio of Nikola Vucevic, DeMar DeRozan, and Zach LaVine has been very successful up to this point and LaVine has enjoyed his time in Chicago, likely meaning that there is close to a 0% chance of him leaving in free agency.
However, crazier things have happened in this league before and all it takes is one argument or one thing to be said to cause an entire team to fall apart. Dangling Tobias Harris’ contract in sign-and-trade scenarios, the Philadelphia 76ers would technically have the ability to acquire Zach LaVine in the offseason, but again, this is extremely unlikely to happen.
