3. Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks made a big trade ahead of the deadline, sending Kristaps Porzingis to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans. It was a surprising deal, as the Mavericks aren’t getting any long-term savings, which speaks volumes to how badly they wanted to part ways with Porzingis.
With that issue now resolved, the team can look for upgrades alongside Luka Doncic. It won’t be cheap, but the Dallas Mavericks would be an excellent landing spot for Donovan Mitchell. He and Doncic would be a good pair in the backcourt as Mitchell would provide the team with the secondary ball-handler they have been looking for.
Utah likely won’t be looking to go into a rebuild should they move Mitchell, and the Dallas Mavericks can provide them some pieces to remain competitive.
Jalen Brunson, who is heading toward unrestricted free agency, could be a centerpiece of a deal. Tim Hardaway Jr. is a contract they would likely have to attach and the recently extended Dorian Finney-Smith could fit the bill as a defensive-minded wing the Utah Jazz have been pursuing.

A backcourt pairing of Doncic and Mitchell would make the Dallas Mavericks contenders in the Western Conference, especially with the strides the team has made defensively. Mitchell would provide that offensive punch the team is missing, making them a dangerous two-way team.
