Los Angeles Lakers Miss The Playoffs

Entering the 2021-22 NBA season, many were picking the Los Angeles Lakers to win the 2022 NBA Finals. Now, the only thing the Lakers are being picked for is to be one of the first teams to fly to Cancun for summer vacation.

The chances of the Lakers making the NBA Finals this season are slim-to-none and their chances of making the playoffs as a whole are slowly starting to fade away.

Currently 27-31 on the year, LeBron James and Co. have really struggled to find production outside of their stars and LeBron has had to carry this team all year long with Anthony Davis constantly being injured.

The “Russell Westbrook experiment” has crashed and burned in Los Angeles this season and with no real secondary talents to alleviate pressure off of James, it is hard to imagine that this team has what it takes to actually be anything special over the last few weeks of the regular season.

Time-and-time again, this team has proven to take one step forwards and two steps backwards. LeBron James at 37-years-old can no longer single-handedly carry his team past the best teams in this league, which is why it would not be surprising to see them fail to win two games in the play-in tournament this season.

If the season ended today, the Lakers would be playing the Portland Trail Blazers in the 9-seed vs. 10-seed game, a team that has beaten them twice this season. Should they win that game, they would go on to face either the Timberwolves or Clippers, who they have a combined 1-4 record against this season.

The 2021-22 season has been a complete failure for the Los Angeles Lakers and it already seems like the team has given up hope.

LeBron James was focused on talking about his future at the All-Star Game this past weekend and with Anthony Davis now out indefinitely again due to a lower right leg injury, it is hard to imagine that they will be able to pick up quality wins down the stretch-run of the season in order to make the playoffs.
