Donovan Mitchell – Utah Jazz

Missing a week or two of action has set Donovan Mitchell back a little bit and has taken him off of people’s radar a little bit, but Mitchell is having yet another terrific season and was named to the All-Star Game for the third consecutive year.

Now in his 5th NBA season, Donovan Mitchell has gone from being a slept-on NBA Draft prospect to being one of the best backcourt scorers in the league, as he is currently tied for ninth in scoring with Jayson Tatum this season at 25.7 points per game.

Shooting a career-high 45.6% from the floor, Mitchell has found ways to continue improving his offensive game and his added playmaking abilities this season have really helped the Jazz offense become even more deadly than it was last season.

Donovan Mitchell is averaging 5.2 assists per game this season, tying his career-high in assists, and without him on the floor, the Jazz has really struggled this season. Without him, the Jazz is just 5-7 on the year, and with Mitchell out of the lineup, Utah’s offensive rating drops from 118.2 all the way down to 113.8, making them a less effective scoring team.

The Jazz held the best record in the NBA last season and while they have slipped in the standings this year, they are still very much in the championship equation in the Western Conference.

Donovan Mitchell is the catalyst offensively for the Utah Jazz and he has turned himself into one of the best scorers in the NBA today.
