1. Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are rolling right along this season. Still working out some of the kinks of reacclimating Klay Thompson into the lineup, they have fallen off the pace of the Phoenix Suns a bit as the season has worn on, but they are still regarded as one of the contenders in the NBA.
The Warriors are expected to be aggressive on the buyout market. Many people believe they will be targeting some help in the frontcourt, specifically at the center position. But, an under-the-radar need for the Warriors is another point guard.
Beyond Stephen Curry, this team doesn’t have another true point guard in its rotation. They can get away with that because Draymond Green is an excellent facilitator from the power forward spot. Andre Iguodala is another good playmaker from the forward spots, but this team is lacking in point guards.
That is where DJ Augustin could come in. Augustin would provide the team with another playmaker out of the backcourt and give Steve Kerr even more chances to tinker with his lineup. He likely wouldn’t find many minutes with the Warriors when they are at full health, but he is someone that would provide them with valuable depth and insurance.

But, there is certainly a chance Augustin could find some rotation minutes. Some of the backcourt players the Warriors deploy have below-average PER’s this season, so Kerr could opt to go with the veteran Augustin in certain situations as you know what you are going to get from him.
