Re-Visit John Wall Trade With Houston Rockets?

According to Yahoo’s NBA insider Chris Haynes, the Lakers attempted to trade Russell Westbrook to the Houston Rockets for John Wall, but the Rockets wanted an extra first-round draft pick in the trade that Los Angeles was not willing to give up.

There were also trade discussions going on between the Magic and Lakers revolving around Talen Horton-Tucker and Terrence Ross at the deadline, but the Lakers again were not willing to attach extra outgoing value in the trade.

No team in the league feels bad for the Lakers right now and wants to “help” them in a trade simply because they put themselves in this bad situation financially. Russell Westbrook has arguably the worst contract in NBA history and yes, we have not forgotten about Luol Deng’s contract with the Lakers, one that Los Angeles is still paying off this season!

The fact that the Lakers are paying Luol Deng $5 million in dead cap money this season basically sums up the kind of year it has been for the Lakers.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Lakers Could Have Traded Westbrook; Not Ready To Give Up

Nothing can go their way and this is not going to be an easy fix for them heading into the offseason.

As stated before, Russell Westbrook’s contract is terrible and it is a long shot to believe he is going to opt-out of his $47 million player option for next season. I mean, no other teams in the league have inquired about him since Westbrook joined the Lakers, so why wouldn’t he opt into this $47 million insurance policy for himself?

There are just a handful of teams in the league, even in the offseason, that will be able to take on this contract and half of them want no part of Russell Westbrook.
