Eric Bledsoe – Portland Trail Blazers
Prior to the start of the season, Eric Bledsoe was traded from the Pelicans to the Memphis Grizzlies for Steven Adams, and then flipped to the Los Angeles Clippers in a trade package that involved Patrick Beverley and Rajon Rondo.
Eric Bledsoe proved to be a key asset in Los Angeles during the first month or so of the regular season, but then Paul George got injured and the Clippers’ chances of contending in the Western Conference became smaller.
As a result, the Clippers moved Eric Bledsoe again to the Portland Trail Blazers in a deal that landed them Norman Powell and Robert Covington.
Not having played a game for the Trail Blazers yet and with Portland rebuilding right now, Eric Bledsoe is a sneaky play to be bought out of his contract.
LATEST NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Can DeMar DeRozan Keep Bulls Afloat Amid Bulls’ Injury Concerns?
While it is unlikely that the 32-year-old guard will hit the market this season given that his contract is partially-guaranteed for $3.9 million next season instead of the full $19.4 million, Eric Bledsoe is still drawing interest from several playoff teams.
With Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso out, Ayo Dosunmu has been left as the lone guard in the Bulls’ backcourt right now. Dosunmu has played well, but adding some extra depth with an experienced guard like Bledsoe could go a long way in terms of the Bulls making a deep playoff push.
Defensively, the Bulls could use a boost with their three best defenders in Williams, Ball and Caruso being out, which is why signing Eric Bledsoe on a minimum-like contract would be smart.
He has always been regarded as a smart defensive player out on the perimeter and averaging 4.2 assists per game this season, Bledsoe could be another key facilitator the Bulls can utilize in different situations and matchups.
