Detroit Pistons
The Detroit Pistons have a lot of needs when it comes to adding talent around Cade Cunningham. The Killian Hayes experience is not panning out and it’s clear there’s a need to add a more established veteran into the fold.
The main challenge for the Pistons will be that it’s not easy for a small market team to attract talent in free agency without overpaying to get it. It’s all the more challenging to draw interest from talented veterans during the early stage of a rebuild.
The Pistons would benefit from adding a seasoned veteran like Brogdon into their backcourt as Cade Cunningham continues to develop as the clear-cut star of the team. It may take a trade in order to land that type of talent.
Canvasing the league for a team looking to move off from a veteran point guard could be the best option for the Pistons to pursue. Given the protections on the Pistons’ 2022 first-round pick that was sent out in a previous trade, they are limited on what they can offer in a deal—limiting the level of player they can pursue.

Having an off-ball threat that can also initiate the offense would help to take pressure off Cunningham in his sophomore campaign while also bringing another positive defender into the lineup.
