Would this trade make sense for the Detroit Pistons?
There isn’t a real need to move on from Jerami Grant right now for the Detroit Pistons. However, it does make sense to accept a favorable trade offer to add some assets if the right deal presents itself..
Jerami Grant is content with his situation and he can be a key piece going forward alongside Cade Cunningham. While he isn’t an ideal fit for Cunningham’s timeline, he can be a helpful piece to take pressure off him while he develops. In this instance, they’d favor getting a trade return instead.
Landing Harrison Barnes as a serviceable replacement for Grant alongside Saddiq Bey on the wing would be a helpful option for the Pistons. It’s not easy for them to attract talent in free agency and Barnes can be a stopgap option to play a key role.
Landing the Sacramento Kings’ 2022 first-round pick would be a nice asset for the Pistons to acquire. Harrison Barnes and Richaun Holmes would both bring a helpful complementary impact next to Cunningham.

It would be quite helpful to have a stretch-four at the level of Barnes and with that, a rim roller like Holmes brings a genuinely intriguing dynamic to it all.
