Would this trade make sense for the Sacramento Kings?
Change is needed for the Sacramento Kings and they’ve already brought plenty of it with the Domantas Sabonis trade. Why stop now? Adding a talent like Jerami Grant could be an intriguing option and needed fit alongside Sabonis with his defensive versatility and complementary offensive skill-set.
While he’s a helpful complementary talent, there are limitations to what Harrison Barnes provides for an offense. He’s also going to be 30-years-old at the end of his contract, which expires after the 2022-23 season. Now would be an ideal time to capitalize on his trade value.
Jerami Grant was quite impressive in his breakout campaign last season and showed just how versatile he his skill-set truly is. He can be involved on either end of a ball screen or DHO, he can capitalize against switches and thrives at attacking off the catch within the flow of the offense. Additionally, he can be deployed in off-ball screening actions to get downhill.
The Kings made it clear that De’Aaron Fox is the focus of their team building efforts by moving on from Tyrese Haliburton—meaning they need to be building around his timeline. Adding a win-now talent like Grant makes all the more sense as a result.

A trio of Fox, Sabonis, and Grant would be a respectable one in the Western Conference that could give real competition to earn a spot in the play-in tournament more comfortably at least.
