Dallas Mavericks

Being one of the best defensive teams in the NBA this season and currently the 5-seed in the Western Conference, the Dallas Mavericks definitely look like a team on the cusp of being a true contender.

However, their inconsistent play on offense and Tim Hardaway Jr. now being out indefinitely could really throw a wrench in Dallas’ plans for success heading into the second-half of the season.

Perimeter shooting has been a problem all year for the Mavericks, as they rank 25th in the league in three-point shooting percentage, which is why they could turn their attention to adding a high-level shooter ahead of the trade deadline. Trading for him would cost the Mavericks some money, but Buddy Hield is exactly what they need for their offense.

Currently 1.5 games back from the 4-seeded Utah Jazz in the Western Conference, the Dallas Mavericks certainly have a chance to win a first-round playoff series for the first-time since they won the title in 2011, but their offense is a mess and Kristaps Porzingis cannot be counted on anymore given his durability issues.

Dallas needs another pure scoring weapon that Luka Doncic can rely on, which is why Buddy Hield should be the main target for them ahead of tomorrow’s deadline, regardless if Indiana wants to give him up or not.

The only problem with pursuing Hield right now though is the fact that he is now longer on the Kings and that the Pacers could be asking for way too much value for him.

The Indiana Pacers are somewhat rebuilding right now and if they are to give up Buddy Hield, they would most likely have to be receiving at least oen first-round pick and a key, impactful talent.

They are not going to want to take on the contracts of either Reggie Bullock or Dwight Powell, which leaves the Mavericks in a standstill in regards to pursuing Hield.

Buddy Hield is certainly the type of player the Mavericks need on the wing given their offensive woes, but trading for Hield just got a lot tougher now that he is in Indiana.
