D.J. Augustin – Houston Rockets
All the talk in Houston has been about John Wall and whether or not he would be traded or bought out of his contract, but it does not seem like either of these two things are going to occur ahead of the trade deadline.
A buyout surrounding Wall is still in play, but it is much more likely that veteran guard D.J. Augustin gets bought out of his contract with the Rockets instead.
Now in his 14th NBA season, D.J. Augustin is now 34-years-old and has continued to prove to be a veteran asset in the backcourt.
While he has not played much this season in Houston, Augustin is still an effective facilitator and someone who can be a threat to pull up and score from beyond the three-point line, as he has shot 40.6% from deep this season and 38% from deep in his career.

The Rockets are rebuilding right now and assuming they do not make any big trades ahead of Thursday’s deadline, they will continue turning their attention to allocating playing time in the backcourt to Jalen Green, Josh Christopher, Armoni Brooks, and Kevin Porter Jr.
It is definitely possible that they would hold onto Augustin into the offseason given that his contract is only partially guaranteed for $333K next season, but Houston could also look to just get him off their roster right away this season.
