Would this trade make sense for the Sacramento Kings?
For the Sacramento Kings, this deal would see them reset their team a bit. Something clearly isn’t working in Sacramento right now and it’s clear that some sort of change is needed. While this wouldn’t get them equal value in return for Fox, it would net them draft picks and a chance to restart their rebuild.
Sacramento would be starting over a bit, but this time building around Tyrese Haliburton. Getting a defensive-minded guard to pair alongside him is a good start. Not only could Marcus Smart mentor Haliburton, but he would help enforce a defensive mindset in Sacramento – something they’ve been desperately lacking.
Both Romeo Langford and Aaron Nesmith would have a chance to thrive out west, too. Neither has gotten much run in Boston this year, but each has shown some serious two-way potential. Nesmith was a torch from three last season, and Langford has some serious defensive chops.
The best part of this trade package, however, might just be the three unprotected first-round picks. Boston may be good at that point, but that’s what everyone said about the Brooklyn Nets all those years ago. Who knows where the Boston Celtics will be five years down the line.

The Kings may rather take the route of trading for a second young star, but if not, then this trade isn’t half bad. It’d provide them with solutions to a few areas of need while also giving them ample draft capital. Not a bad return if they are dead set on trading Fox.
