The Lasting Impact & Grade Of This Trade For The Pacers
Trading Caris LeVert seemed like the first move that the Indiana Pacers needed to make this season simply because they were not going to be in contention for anything with him apart of this roster.
This is definitely not a knock to Caris LeVert as a player, but the Indiana Pacers have been spiraling downwards for years now and with all the injuries that they have had to deal with and LeVert having one more year left on his contract, now was the best time for them to capitalize on his value.
Getting a young talent from Cleveland instead of two second-round picks would have definitely been beneficial to the Pacers, but what they got in return really was not bad.
The Pacers can continue building a young core with the addition of the Cavaliers’ first-round pick and not only can they look to leverage the second-round picks that they got for more future value, but Ricky Rubio’s contract is still moveable.

Many are expecting Indiana to still try and move Rubio’s $17.8 million contract to bring in another player that can help them as they “re-tool” their roster.
Rockets veteran Eric Gordon could be a possible target for this team given the Pacers interest in him in the past and Magic veteran Terrence Ross is another name to keep a close eye on given that Orlando is wanting to move him ahead of the deadline.
At the end of the day, trading Caris LeVert for future draft compensation allowed the Pacers to then be able to move Domantas Sabonis, Jeremy Lamb and Justin Holiday to the Kings for a terrific young guard in Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield and Tristan Thomspon.
