Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Kemba Walker, G Evan Fournier
New York Knicks Receive: C Dwight Powell, G/F Sterling Brown, 2022 Second-Round Pick
This hypothetical trade between the Dallas Mavericks and New York Knicks was put together by Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report. He put together one deal for each team in the league ahead of the trade deadline on February 10th.
This deal was put together from the Maverick’s perspective. Knowing they have a lockdown defense, they go all-in on acquiring some offensive weapons to help the team get going on that end of the court.
Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier both bring offensive firepower to Dallas’s rotation. Walker can be absorbed into the trade exception that the Mavericks have, enabling them to not have to match salary in this deal.
It isn’t costly for Dallas to make those upgrades. Heading to the Big Apple are Dwight Powell, Sterling Brown and a 2022 second-round pick.

Powell is good insurance in the frontcourt for a team that has suffered multiple injuries there this season. Brown adds depth on the wing and provides the team with another 3-point shooter. Second-round picks always have value as a sweetener in a deal or to add affordable talent to the roster.
How does this deal impact each team? Let’s take a look at it from both of their perspectives, starting with the Mavericks.
