Would this trade make sense for the New York Knicks?

It’s been an up-and-down season for the New York Knicks with the point guard position being one that has continued to be an issue despite acquiring Kemba Walker in the offseason.

Walker hasn’t’ quite lived up to the expectations that New York held when they signed him. Taking a chance on a player like Russell Westbrook could bring a different dynamic into the fold and perhaps that could be a combination that promotes greater results.

Westbrook is known for starting off slowly but having strong finishes to his regular season campaigns. Perhaps he could find his stride with the Knicks after the NBA trade deadline in a potential deal?

While there has been much criticism for Westbrook during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers, and rightfully so, it’s important to not take away too much from he can bring to a team. His lack of efficiency in the scoring department can be frustrating as can his lapses on defense. He can still get to the rim at a high-level.

The commitment wouldn’t be a long-term one for the Knicks with Westbrook given he is signed through just the 2022-23 season. Perhaps he could be a helpful star to recruit another difference-maker in the offseason, too. Receiving a future first-round pick is an intriguing option, too.
