Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: G Dejounte Murray
San Antonio Spurs Receive: G Collin Sexton, SF Cedi Osman, 2022 First-Round Pick (Unprotected), 2024 First-Round Pick (Lottery-Protected)
This hypothetical trade package between the Cleveland Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs was put together by Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report. He put together four deals that would blow up the 2022 NBA playoff race and this one would certainly qualify.
The Cavaliers are a surprise playoff contender with a legitimate chance to claim homecourt through at least the first round, if not the entire Eastern Conference playoffs. With their timeline expedited, they make a move that not only improves them immediately but keeps the future bright as well.
Dejounte Murray is in the midst of a breakout season for the Spurs. He would fill a lot of the needs in Cleveland and is a good backcourt pairing for Darius Garland as both are interchangeable on and off the ball.
For San Antonio, they accept that it is time to retool the roster and sell Murray when his value is highest. He has two years remaining on his deal and is producing career-high numbers across the board. So, the Spurs cash in and get back a solid haul.

Collin Sexton is likely out the remainder of this season, but at only 23-years old and one season removed from averaging 24.3 points per game, that is a solid piece for the future in San Antonio. Cedi Osman is a steady wing producer as well.
The draft picks are of the most value to the Spurs. That will give them more chances to add young, high-upside talent to the roster. It also gives them ammunition to swing another trade should they see fit.
How does this deal impact both teams? Let’s take a look at it from each of their perspectives, starting with the Cavaliers.
