One of the biggest surprises this season in the NBA has been the play of the Cleveland Cavaliers. No one expected them to be in the position that they are only a week away from the 2022 NBA trade deadline.
Cleveland has been one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference throughout the season. They are currently in fifth place, only two games behind the first-place Chicago Bulls with a record of 31-21.
The fact the Cavaliers are in that position at all is impressive, but when you account for the injuries they have had to overcome, it makes it that much more surprising.
Starting guard Collin Sexton went down with a meniscus injury that will likely keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season.
His loss was overcome by Darius Garland ascending to All-Star level production and Ricky Rubio stepping up. But, the team also lost Rubio to a season-ending knee injury, putting them in a real bind in the backcourt.

Seeing as they have remained afloat despite two brutal injuries to the backcourt, the Cavaliers are buyers ahead of the deadline. The question is, how will they go shopping? Will it be for a bargain on the fringes or will they go all-in and spend big?
If they decide to spend big, one player that could be a target of theirs is Dejounte Murray of the San Antonio Spurs. What would it take to bring Murray to Cleveland? Let’s take a look at this hypothetical deal between the Cavaliers and Spurs.
