Would this trade make sense for the Sacramento Kings?
The Sacramento Kings have a chance to be the biggest sellers at the NBA trade deadline this season. After what has been a long playoff drought, this is another group that has not worked out. Sacramento could get a large return for many of their players and De’Aaron Fox is at the top of the list.
When selling, it is still important to keep a centerpiece player to build around. Tyrese Haliburton presents the Kings with the luxury of already having a replacement talent that fits that mold at the same position that Fox plays.
By moving on from Fox, the Kings would be able to embrace Haliburton as a high-usage threat as the clear-cut focus of the half-court offense without worrying about any overlap.
Trey Murphy III would bring a sharpshooter to add on the wing to space for Haliburton, too. The real appeal of this deal aside from Murphy III is the pair of future first-round picks. However, the team could move Josh Hart for more value in a separate deal at a later time for another asset.
