Would this trade make sense for the Atlanta Hawks?

The Atlanta Hawks would be trading offense for defense in this deal, something they desperately need to consider doing at the NBA trade deadline. Their defense has been horrendous this season and needs to be addressed.

Dorian Finney-Smith is an extremely underrated two-way forward. He’s averaging double-digit points for the Mavs while simultaneously spacing the floor and playing quality defense.

Atlanta would obviously have to worry about re-signing Finney-Smith, but he will undoubtedly be cheaper than Bogdan Bogdanovic. He also fills a position of need, especially if John Collins ends up being traded (as is becoming increasingly more likely).

Reggie Bullock would also provide the Hawks with a solid wing defender. As mentioned, he was a great 3&D guy in New York last season, and while he started off slow in Dallas, he’s starting to round back into form. He’d give the Hawks a nice veteran presence out on the wing.

Trading Bogdanovic would put some more offensive pressure on Trae Young, but it would also allow other guys such as Kevin Huerter to step up. At this point, something isn’t working in Atlanta, so shaking things up a bit in an attempt to prioritize defense might be smart.
