Does this trade make sense for the Orlando Magic?
Although there will be other offers on the table for Terrence Ross at the trade deadline, this is not a terrible deal for the Orlando Magic. Not only do they get rid of Michael Carter-Williams, who always seems to be injured, but the Magic also add two immediate second-round picks in 2022 and 2023.
This may not seem that valuable, but this would increase the Magic’s total draft picks through 2023 from six picks to eight picks. That is a pretty big increase and suddenly gives Orlando a ton of options come time for the NBA Draft over the next two years.
Not only could they settle with all the picks they have and continue to add young, dynamic talents to their roster, but the Magic could also leverage the now four second-round draft picks they would have through 2023 to try and acquire at least one more first-round pick in this same time span.
Terrence Ross has been a key contributor for Orlando over the years, but they really do not have a need for him anymore seeing as they are not going to be contending for a playoff spot anytime soon.

The best thing the Magic can do for themselves is add future value to their organization and this trade does just that. Maybe they can get a better offer from another team closer to the deadline, but this trade with the LA Clippers should certainly draw interest.
