Does this trade make sense for the Sacramento Kings?

Whether or not the Sacramento Kings should make this trade solely depends on what other offers they are receiving at the trade deadline for Harrison Barnes. 

The Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls are two Eastern Conference teams that have shown a level of interest in Barnes, so if they are offering more future value than this trade with the Utah Jazz, the Kings would be smart to pursue a trade with one of those two teams. 

However, if this is the only deal on the table for Barnes over the next few weeks, the Kings would be smart to just take the value presented to them and try to flip Ingles and/or O’Neale again.

Taking on Joe Ingles’ contract is not bad whatsoever, as this would free up cap space for the Kings heading into the offseason, and they should be able to get some future value in a trade for a versatile defender like Royce O’Neale in the offseason.

Nothing about this trade will make the Kings’ front-office excited, but moving Harrison Barnes is an essential move for this organization to free up immediate cap space. Building for the future is key and it is hard to do so if Sacramento is tied down to long-term contracts.
