Does this trade make sense for the Sacramento Kings?

The Sacramento Kings signed Richaun Holmes to a new contract in the offseason with the mindset of keeping him long-term, but saving money should be the Kings’ number one priority right now seeing as they are still rebuilding.

De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton seem like the only “untouchable” assets on this roster right now and with the Kings having a ton of frontcourt talent already, it would not be shocking to see them split with both Holmes and Bagley at the trade deadline.

Chimezie Metu, Damian Jones, Tristan Thompson, Alex Len and rookie Neemias Queta would all remain in the Kings’ frontcourt this season should Sacramento agree to this deal with Charlotte and they would be adding P.J. Washington and Vernon Carey Jr. as well.

Along with acquiring another scoring weapon in Kelly Oubre Jr., this is definitely fair value for a team that is still at “rock-bottom” in the league. Nothing right has happened for the Kings over the years, but they have a really strong foundation with their young backcourt.

Surrounding them with other young, dynamic talents is the way to go, which is why leveraging both Richaun Holmes and Marvin Bagley III right now for value makes a lot of sense for the Sacramento Kings.
