This deal between the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets certainly comes out of left field a little bit, but it does cement each team’s current status. New York is looking to raise its ceiling while Houston adds even more youngsters to the mix for their rebuild.
The Knicks take a shot on Christian Wood and Kevin Porter Jr., two very talented players that could probably use some tough coaching to bring the most out of them.
Porter has run into issues with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Rockets but could be a long-term solution at the point guard spot.

Obi Toppin has looked much improved in his second season in the NBA. However, as long as Julius Randle is entrenched as the starting power forward, there won’t be many opportunities for Toppin. Cashing in on his value to fill holes elsewhere makes sense.

Miles McBride was a second-round pick in 2021. He hasn’t had too many extended chances with the NBA but has been dominant in the G League, where is averaging 27 points per game with 9.5 assists.
