Does this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?
Here is the thing with Philadelphia right now – they truly believe that they can contend for a championship. Daryl Morey and this front-office believe in the group that they currently have, so unless they are to trade Ben Simmons, they are not going to be trading Tobias Harris this season.
This idea of moving Harris and his large contract definitely makes sense, but it is hard to imagine that the Philadelphia 76ers would be a better team this season with the additions of Buddy Hield and Harrison Barnes at the expense of Tobias Harris.
Hield is nothing more than a catch-and-shoot perimeter threat, which the 76ers already have with Seth Curry, Furkan Korkmaz and Georges Niang on the perimeter, and Barnes is not a better forward than that of Harris.
They can both do many of the same things, but Tobias Harris is a little bit better of a defender than Harrison Barnes and the problem with bringing in Barnes midseason is that he could throw off the chemistry of this team.

Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris has been a solid “one-two” punch for the 76ers this season and assuming they will be fully-healthy within the next month with guys like Curry, Thybulle, Milton and Green coming back, Philadelphia will have everything they need to be the best version of themselves.
Whether or not this is enough to win a championship is the question that is yet to be answered, but it is hard to imagine them being much better than they currently are with the additions of Hield and Barnes.
