Does this trade make sense for the Sacramento Kings?
Moving on from Harrison Barnes and Buddy Hield at the trade deadline certainly makes sense from a standpoint of the Sacramento Kings saving money long-term, but all of that thinking would go out the window if they were to acquire Tobias Harris.
The Kings are at the point as a franchise where they are starting to trend upwards with the success of De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Halibuton, but they still need another star player to pair with both of these young guards.
While he has had success in Philadelphia, Tobias Harris is not an All-Star-level player and never really has been throughout the course of his career.
Danny Green does nothing for the Kings other than being a veteran presence on the wing, which means that Sacramento would be relying on the 29-year-old Harris to be their No. 2 option long-term next to Fox.

Adding a first-round pick from Philadelphia immediately in 2022 offers value, but this pick is likely to fall anywhere from 20-30, giving the Kings less value than say a lottery-projected pick this season.
There is absolutely value to be had here and Tobias Harris could certainly be an x-factor in Sacramento moving forward, but there is a lot of liability tied to this trade for the Sacramento Kings. Just getting draft picks and young talents to continue rebuilding with is likely better than acquiring someone like Tobias Harris.
