Would this trade make sense for the San Antonio Spurs?

For the San Antonio Spurs, this trade would allow them to be much more competitive in the Western Conference. A lot of people forget that they were a play-in team last season, but the West has improved a lot in a short period of time. This trade would put them right back in the mix.

Doing this would help them give Gregg Popovich a few final years of competitive basketball. Adding Brandon Ingram to their roster would immediately put them in contention for a playoff spot, especially with Popovich at the helm running the show.

San Antonio’s starting lineup could look something like this — Dejounte Murray, Devin Vassell, Ingram, Keldon Johnson, and Jakob Poeltl. Running Vassell at the two may seem weird, but at only 6-5, he should easily be able to transition to playing the two guard.

That young, up-and-coming starting lineup should be able to stay competitive with Popovich coaching them. Murray and Ingram are both All-Star-level talents, and the other members of that starting lineup have shown a ton of potential as well.

This would definitely be an odd, win-now sort of move for the Spurs. However, since Ingram is only 24-years-old, this would give them a team to build around for the future, too. Overall, this would be a very weird trade for the Spurs because of how little they make big-time moves, but it could be super beneficial.
