Atlanta Hawks Receive: G CJ McCollum, F/C Robert Covington
Portland Trail Blazers Receive: F John Collins, F Danilo Gallinari
Talk about a shake-up. This trade would see one All-Star-caliber traded for another. John Collins would be able to get a fresh start with the Portland Trail Blazers, while CJ McCollum would get the same with the Atlanta Hawks.
Collins, despite his complaints, has put together a very good season so far. The big man from Wake Forest is averaging 17.2 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.9 assists while shooting 53.3 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from three-point land.
McCollum just recovered from a collapsed lung earlier this season but had been playing well before he went out. The veteran is averaging 20.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.3 assists this season while shooting 43.0 percent from the field and 39.7 percent from deep.
Danilo Gallinari hasn’t played at the level that the Hawks may have hoped, but he’s shooting fairly well from deep. As for Robert Covington, he’s put together an okay season thus far but is set to be a free agent at the end of this year.

As simple as this trade is, it would give both teams somewhat of a fresh look, as that might be what each of them should be looking for right now.
Outside of a simple shake-up, though, why should both teams be interested in this deal?
