Would this trade make sense for the Detroit Pistons?

With the direction the Detroit Pistons are trending in, getting young players and draft capital should be their number one priority. This trade accomplishes both of those things. They’d get two young pieces and two unprotected firsts.

As mentioned, Josh Green largely hasn’t gotten a real opportunity with the Dallas Mavericks but has received a bit more run as of late. He averaged 11.4 minutes in his rookie season last year, and while that number was down earlier in the season, he has averaged 18.8 minutes since Dec. 12. Regardless, Detroit would give him a larger chance to blossom into a quality NBA player.

He needs to work on his three-point shooting, but Green is already a solid NBA-level defender and with some genuinely intriguing secondary playmaking ability, particular on deep kicks and dump off passes. Green played for Team Australia at the Olympics this summer, and he is often thrown in the game when the Mavs need a stop.

Moses Brown is the other young player they’d get in the deal, and he showed some real promise with the Thunder last year. He averaged 8.6 points and 8.9 rebounds in Oklahoma City, and he’d give them Pistons some much-needed frontcourt depth behind Isaiah Stewart.

Maxi Kleber and Trey Burke could be flipped or waived, and are only included for salary reasons. Overall, though, this trade would help the Detroit Pistons get younger, and they’d be able to take a chance on two young guys with some untapped potential.
